Wall Sconce
I want to wire in a wall light. I have an exit below.?
Does anyone know the easiest way to wire a lamp wall. I want a switch between the power supply (output) and apply. I do not want to rip plaster, it is possible to feed a wire through a hole in drywall to the switch and the source or is that against code. I'm not a genius in electrical work and want to get it right. Any advice would be appreciated.
No problem. You make a hole in the drywall the same size as the box is inserted to change. You make another hole for the top box where applicable. Fish cable from the exit hole of the switch, and one of the pits to change the hole apply. Put the cables in the new boxes and install the boxes on the wall. Leave 6 inches of wire free outside of each box. Install a switch and a lamp in the other. Then connect the power cord into the outlet. Buy boxes that have wings that open behind the drywall and attach to the wall when you tighten the screws. You will not paint any drywall patch or so. To meet the code you only need to install junction boxes and prepared. The white wire and floor in the 14 / 2 with ground type NMB cable (romex) go directly from the wall to light through the switch box. The black run from the receptacle to the switch and light switch with 2 screws on the switch. The cuts the power switch on the black wire. Check your local code permitted to romex. Otherwise, you must use MC cable.
