Antique Stain Glass In The Vintage Home
If you want to add some dramatic color to your historic home, consider the addition of some antique stained glass or leaded glass. Antique leaded stained glass makes a wonderful adornment to different areas of the home, and may be used as is for decorating windows and other well-lit areas. Antique stain glass is quite labor intensive to create, and can sometimes carry a substantial price tag because of this. However, when you consider that this is an investment in your home that will bring you and your guests pleasure over many years whenever you look at it, it can be of great benefit and a perfect addition to complement the appearance of your vintage home.
One excellent way to incorporate beautiful antique stain glass into your home is to add antique stained glass panels around your entry door. This placement of antique stained glass can let light into the home and will also dramatically accent your entry area. Having a welcoming entrance to the home is of critical importance, because you not only want to make sure that visitors know where to enter the home, but you also want to make a warm initial impression on your guests, and the addition of some antique stained glass panels can offer both.
There may be windows in the front of your historic home where, although you could place curtains, you might want to try something a little more unusual for a front-of-the-house embellishment. For this purpose, nothing could be better than hanging some antique stained glass or leaded glass on the insides of those front windows that are on display. This colorful option of utilizing antique stain glass in this position allows you to decorate your front windows while still allowing light to penetrate into the interior of the home, an important consideration in many vintage homes. Those important front windows also often flank the entry to the home, and thus you can bring even more attention to the entryway using this type of placement of antique stain glass.
Antique leaded glass comes in several different shapes for use in the home. In addition to the traditional square or rectangular pieces, you will also find unique round, oval and even fan-shaped glass pieces. Square and rectangular glass can be used to accent, and sometimes even replace, the current windows in certain areas of your historic home. The fan, round and oval windows made of the colorful glass will need custom openings, but offer a beautiful focal point to any wall of your home where you want to draw attention.
