Have fun with paper plates while education
Paper plates are cheap, accessible and easy for little hands to manipulate. Need ideas to play? The following article presents three fun things to do with paper plates.
Make a clock –
Young children know what is a clock, but still can not tell time. This activity is simple and fun to make. Help children find the center of the clock with this little experiment: Put two pieces of string or yarn cross on the paper plate. At the point where they cross in the center of the plate is the approximate center of the clock.

Mark this point with a pencil.
Then make "hands" for the clock. You can make strips of laminate construction type of paper or cardboard, which come in various colors. For a plate of 12 inches, the hour hand should be about four inches long. The minute hand should be about five inches long. Then make a small hole about ½ inch from the end of each hand. Allow children to put the brad through of the two hands (hand little goes on top) and then through the paper plate clock. Once inserted, extended at both ends of the brad to secure open the clock.
Last but not least, is ready to put numbers on the clock. Your hands on your site helps you know where to put the numbers. Separate clockwise and point up and one down and lightly pencil in the numbers 12 and 6. Now the line of hand goes through the plate and pencil at 3 and 9. The same with the numbers 1 and 7, 2 and 8 4 and 10 and 5 and 11. Once done, you know exactly where to put each number. There are a variety of materials that can be used for the clock numbers: Sticker Number, number of foam, wood numbers, number of paper cut from magazines and newspapers. Make a wheel of the window –
The wheel window is fun to use and provides a unique way to discover or revise new information. You need two paper plates per child for this project.
Find the center of the upper plate by the method of previous chain, and mark with a pencil. This is where the brad will happen when the wheel is ready to ride. Design of a small "window" for the development of a V-shaped opening on the side of a plate. Imagine a slice of pizza in miniature, about 3 inches wide on the outside "crust" edge and 3 inches long each side of the section, tapering towards the tip. The window can also be in the form of a square or rectangle.
This special window is the real key this activity. When the top plate is attached to the bottom plate with brad, the top plate can be rotated to show different "objects hidden beneath it – one at a time. In the bottom plate draw or paste pictures interesting. Note that you must be small enough and located near the outer edge of the second plate. This means that you show through the window as the top plate is rotated. The following ideas are images that work well with this activity. You can think of others, too – animals numbers, colors, flowers, fruits, vegetables, toys, seven days a week, weather symbols, etc.

Make a phone –
Give each child three small paper plates to decorate front and back. You can use a variety of ideas for decorating: markers, paint, stickers, foam shapes, glitter, macaroni shapes, felt, pictures from magazines and more. This can be done over a period of two or three days, if necessary. Once the plates are decorated, have the ingredients for a great mobile! We will help them make a hole in the top edge of each circuit board and then a long piece of string or colored yarn through each one. Place these around the edges of another paper plate so they can twist and turn. Wire loop strong thread through the top plate and hang it in a place where you catch the breeze. Length means there's a lot of fun things to do with paper plates. Buy a big pile to keep on hand, because the children eventually will want to repeat these three activities!
