History of King Arthur is sitting with his Knights of the Round Table complaining about the hard times that have befallen the kingdom since the Black Knight Sword stole the song. Asks his men – among them Sir Osis of liver and meat Sir loin – a volunteer for the sword. The men complain that the Black Knight is invincible and has a fire-breathing dragon to save the sword. King Arthur angrily demanding to know if the men are chicken, and is dismayed when he hears and sees clucking chicken feathers flying. Errors, as the court jester, dances and tells King Arthur that "only an idiot" would be crazy enough to go after the Black Knight. The King agrees – he says the mistakes have to get the sword singing, or the face of execution ("Put on the grill, burned at the stake, and beheaded.") Errors in laughs for the first time in the idea, then start mourn. The Black Knight's castle – proved to be Yosemite Sam dressed in black armor – not a fire-breathing dragon, but the dragon has a cold and is prone to attacks sneezing, causing jets of flame to shoot from his nostrils. Sam feeds the dragon a bit of coal to fuel the inner fire of the dragon, then again take a nap in his chair. Bugs sneaks into the castle, past Sam and the dragon, and chest, where he pulls the sword singing. Who openly wondered why the sword is called the "singing sword" – and discover that the sword begins to vibrate with the music of "hug a little closer, Lovey Mine." Sam wakes Errors and persecution, but errors closes the door on Sam's face, causing his armor to fall. Sam wakes up the dragon that breathes fire on him. Bugs runs out of Castle, Sam pursued by the dragon. ducks errors in a hole, Sam slips out the dragon when it comes to stopping. Bugs then runs back to the castle and raises the drawbridge as you approach Sam, causing Sam to fall into the pit. When Sam demands that Bugs lower the drawbridge, which reduces errors right at the head of Sam, then arises again. Sam then use the dragon to shoot a catapult in place, is put into it and rushes to the castle – but misses the error window is to look by, flattening on his forehead (in a "crowding" of voice, Sam says, "You'll pay for this, bug!"). Sam bonds with a a rope around the battlements of the castle, but as he is rising, hitting a deck Bugs in the town of Sam, Sam side causing the rope out of his armor. Thinking on the coast is clear, the error is beyond the castle. Sam and his dragon is hiding behind a rock waiting for the errors, but the dragon sneezes on Sam again alert to the errors of their presence. Bugs then runs back to the castle, followed by Sam and the dragon. Bugs is one room, Sam and the dragon follow then errors escapes and closes the door to what is now displayed as the Board of Explosives. Surrounded by high explosives, Sam tries to stop the sneezing dragon again. As the error away from the castle, the dragon sneezes again, and the tower of Sam and the dragon were off like a rocket to the moon. Bugs goodbye, saying "Goodbye you ". The singing sword out in this, and starts humming Bugs Goodbye to you as out of sight and the cartoon fades. Awards Of all the Bugs Bunny cartoons, this is the only man to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short in 1959. Thus, beat Paul Bunyan and cartoons Sidney Tree Family. Also was the third Oscar-nominated cartoon of Bugs Bunny, after A Wild Hare in 1940 and the Rabbit Hunt Hiawatha in 1941. The Oscar was presented to John W. Burton, the producer of the cartoon. In the episode of Tiny Toon Adventures "Who Bopped Bugs Bunny?", The Academy of winning Knighty Knight Bugs is a major plot point. It reveals that in 1959, Sappy Stanley caricature (an elephant, the voice of Jonathan Winters) was defeated for the award by Knighty Knight Bugs. As a result, Stanley despised the U.S. film industry and moved to France, where he became a national star (parodying similar career change of Jerry Lewis), but still raised a grudge against errors, culminating in the plot of the episode. Sappy Stanley is not a cartoon character that already exist, having been created by the episode, but a parody of Terrytoons character Sydney the elephant, also known as "Silly Sidney", whose family tree Sidney cartoon was actually nominated for an Academy Award the same year Knighty Knight Bugs. Availability This animated DVD is shown without cuts on disc 1 of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection: Volume 4 DVD set. Notes This story echoes a series Sahara Hare gags, including Sam difficulty with getting the dragon to stop the drawbridge jaw and end with errors slowly walk to a castle then explodes. In the CBS censors, the Yosemite Sam climbs the rope and beaten by the croquet mallet Bugs' (the scene is shown at the top of this page) and its subsequent move up and down the rope was cut.
