Gardens and Parks in Dublin
Throughout Dublin, there are many parks and gardens to visit, where you can enjoy your day. If you are with the family, friends, or even on a school trip, each of these places will provide an unforgettable day. Here are some of my favorites:
National Botanic Gardens-These gardens contain a collection of some beautiful plants and covers about 19 hectares of land. Some of the many plants in these botanical gardens are roses, shrubs, vegetables and an arboretum. This garden is located just 3.5 miles north of downtown Dublin. Public transport around the botanical gardens is excellent.
War Memorial Gardens-The gardens are well known throughout Europe and elsewhere. These gardens were designed to remember and respect the Irish soldiers who fought and died in the war. These gardens not only make you think about the soldiers, but also will provide an excellent day and make you see the natural beauty of the world. The War Memorial Gardens contains amazing and colorful plants can be seen through the gardens and the rose gardens and borders.
Marlay Local Park This park is fantastic for a day with family and friends and is just 6 miles from downtown. Marlay Park is about 120 hectares and has used the space wisely, with many things to do, for example, there are tennis courts, swimming pools, playground for children, a cricket ground and a mini golf course. Most buses come directly to Dublin Marley Park. Nearest buses are 14, 16, 75, 48A, 16C and 14A.
The Dillon Garden, The garden Opening and closing times change throughout the year. In March, August and July, is open from 2-6 pm. In September, June, April and May, Sunday is open from 2 to 6 pm as well. This garden is located about 100 meters walk from Sandford. There is a registration fee.
Phoenix Park-This park can be entered in Parkgate Street and is free to enter. The park is 1760 hectares and is only 3 miles from downtown. There is much to do, for example, there are nature trails and gardens ornamentals. The park is covered with many different trees, including oak, pine, lemon and brown. St. Stephen's Green-This 22-acre park is beautiful, has trees, flowers, lakes and a fountain. The park is open throughout the day, however, closes night. This park is the perfect place to go with the family and children.
Garden of Remembrance "This park was quiet and peaceful to remember those who died for Irish freedom. The Garden of Memory is pretty long, quiet walks and would make a great day.
Tolka Valley Park-This park is 345 acres and has forests, wetlands, fields, and many plants. Public transport to and from Tolka Valley Park is excellent for those who have cars is not a car park size medium.
Each of these parks and gardens are worth visiting and do a fantastic day.
