The bald eagle no longer endangered
Most experts expected the bald eagle endangered in the 20 th century, but American symbol has since reversed its decline and started to recover. The bald eagle is considered endangered in 1940 and a law was passed, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, to protect hunting. After the eagle no longer had to worry about hunting, the numbers continued to decline due the pesticide DDT. The bald eagle numbers are down to only 417 couples in the U.S. in 1963, and the species was included in the endangered species list in 1973.
Far from the expected extinction treasure national symbol, the bald eagle has since made a dramatic recovery. The bald eagle is no longer listed as endangered species thanks to the nearly 10,000 couples who wander through the skies of America. Experts, however, the bald eagle will not complete alone. For another five years or more, the bald eagle is being followed and observed by any decline. Monitoring will enable the research community to keep aware of any changes in numbers, and for inclusion in the list of endangered species if necessary.
Even without being reclassified in danger of extinction, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act is still there to keep the animal from being hunted. There is also protection of eagles a law passed in 1918 – the Act Migratory Bird Treaty. The law was passed to protect migratory birds like the bald eagle, other countries that birds share with the U.S. due to migration. For eagles that make their way to Canada or Mexico, the treaty is in force in those countries to end the trade in feathers eagle, eggs and other parts that could make lucrative hunting eagles.
Since DDT was banned in 1972, bald eagles have enjoyed greater protection of decline. DDT caused a serious decline in bald eagle numbers, becoming a major contributor to the species, about extinction. This time chemical made its way from the canals and eagles. The fish in these streams are polluted, becoming food for eagles bald. The chemical then affected the maintenance of eagles to produce the hard shells to protect the baby eagles until it reached the time of hatching. The ravages of DDT made it difficult for species that breed as the mother of their own eggs cracked eagles fine, in an attempt to hatching. With DDT no longer exists, the number of bald eagles can keep growing.
